About Me

Katie McEnaney writes books that celebrate the power of words, language, and history. She is an upper-elementary school teacher with a passion for reading and ensnaring others in a web of life-long reading. As a traveler, photographer, and former archaeologist, Katie has visited five continents, numerous countries, and 41 of the 50 US states. She loves introducing readers and her students to the wider world and fostering their excitement about history.

She lives in Wisconsin with her husband, son, and two very-demanding cats.

Who I Am

Traveler

Travel is an amazing way to connect with other cultures. From Petra in Jordan to cliff dwellings in Colorado, I love visiting archaeological sites and having a personal encounter with the past.

Teacher

I have over a decade of experience in elementary and middle school teaching, exploring the intersection of language arts and social studies.

Archaeologist

History and archaeology are my first love. During my field season in Pompeii, Italy, I was part of a team working to excavate an entire insula (city block) to find out about the pre-eruption history of the city.
